hey everyone! so... i hear that my website was down for a couple of days! don't worry- it's obviously back up now! my web server peeps assured me the problem was fixed!! so if you ordered the book recently, don't worry, it's just a week behind schedule- it'll arrive soon!! the next book, the canopic garden, is finally almost done. i know, i know, i've been saying it forever. it'll be worth the wait!
so a few weeks back singer/songwriter eric himan was once again on tour and made his way through texas. he played at my home venue, guava lamp, and was also booked to play the first annual galveston pride. after the show at guava, we jumped in my car and headed for the island. enjoy the story :)
after eric's phenomenal show at guava lamp, eric and i headed to katz's for fried pickles and such and headed back to my house for some zzz's. in the morning we drove with the top down to galveston island. the weather couldn't have been more beautiful.
all of eric's equipment fit snuggly in the back of the car- on the way down we rocked out to concrete blonde, the indigo girls, and many other favs.
my name's toddicus, bitch!
the view from our hotel "suite" balcony.
ok, so don't get jealous, but i got to lay down on the good old tropically decorated hotel room pull-out bed with the bay doors open and get the royal treatmnt... eric played for me most of his new songs from his forthcoming album, which, i know the title of already. let me tell you that this music was stunning. it's the best work of his career and i was totally blown away. there was hardly anything to critique. it's great stuff eric! i can't wait to hear the studio versions. but hearing them live by the ocean was a delight!
omg! eat your heart out bitches! i'm in eric's room! ; )
after lounging around i took eric to the strand (the historical distict) of galveston for dinner at yaga's. this was the sunset on the way.
omg eric's a ghost!
dinner was good! (and the bloody marys, of course...)
after dinner we headed for the seawall and did the "who's who" at all of the bars hosting the musical guests and other participants. needless to say, drinks were necessary for the onslaught of fans and starf#@%ers.
eric gives me his reaction to my slightly tipsy views of illegal immigration. lol
bienvenido mexicanos!!
the next morning i went down to the seawall to play with my camera and decided that it would be a good day to do an impromptu photshoot for eric. but before his majestly was ready to come down to the beach (i'm kidding eric, betch!) i took some fun shots.
ok! eric's turn... now keep in mind, these are not photoshopped or editted in anyway- they're raw and real. and i think they're great.
i took about 200 pictures... these are my favorites.
i thought that this one took the cake. poor eric had to lie down on salty, dirty, and burning hot seawall rocks for the last two shots... but hey! they're the money shots baby!
a satisfied poet/photographer.
next i drove eric to galveston's historical graveyard for some more photos.
eric got some shots of me too! thanks eric!
so before eric's show we decided to fuel up at hooter's (lol) which used to be my favorite restaurant called 'the ocean grille' - but they sold out to the corporate world : (
but that didn't stop us from devouring more fried pickles and other goodies!
eric rocks the stage at galveston pride.
here are some cool cats we met...
the concert's finished! on to the next adventure! great to see you again eric! thanks for an awesome weekend!!
ok everybody- i went to ren fest again last wekeend! so more fun adventures of toddicus to come! love y'all!
hey everyone! i gotta get these hallowe'en pictures up before the tofurky hits the plate! it's a short update but enjoy... xoxoxo
hey bitches! i was your pimp-ass host for the annual guava lamp hallowe'en party and costume contest- this year's theme was pimps and ho's. gimme a big lol. ok, a small lol will do. this is me and the bff's fiance' morgan. ho!
we had wonderful costumes there!
robert goulet showed up in a timely manner with a ho from his past.
heya kiddos- hope you had an awesome hallowe'en. i'm gonna post my hallowe'en pictures soon enough- but first we have to finish up my indiana trip. so the next update will be yours truly dressed up like a pimp and then my three days on the road with eric himan. go to his website and read his journal. you'll see what you can expect for the up and coming updates! you are truly in for a suprise in the next few weeks!!
my first pontoon ride across yellow creek lake in about 10 years. as usual, i'm hamming it up!
my brother mike and nephew ian... everyone now, "awww!"
fall hits indiana.
back on land my niece katie practices for her future modelling career.
the boys watch the game and kate is passed out cold!! lol!
after a long day i took most of the family to the hotel bar for drinks and memories. guess which of us are drinking. oh, that would be everyone.
my uncle drew and my new and wonderful aunt carla. now, mind you, there were many more pictures of my family, like uncle david and aunt becky, but because not all of the pictures are that flattering, i saved all of us from the agony of embarassment! : )
what a treat! gorgeous jenny drove up from indianapolis and by bff/roommate from college kim drove in from plymouth, indiana!
after the bar closed, the party moved to my hotel room. here we go!
here's kim and myself doing what we did best in college- posing for the camera!
after a long night of partying with friends and family, i jumped in the rental car and drove my ass back to anderson/indianapolis - civilization! but i had an important friend to stop and say hello to on the way home.
mr. james dean. (and please don't email me asking who james dean is. please. if you really don't know, #1 - you live under a log, #2 - you are from a country ruled by a dictatorship and could get killed just by being on my website. #3 - you're an idiot.*see #1*)
when i got back to anderson, my mom and i went to my favorite restaurant of all time - the nile.
my cousin beau and his wife angie- is she lifting my shirt up!??!! lol!
aw! toddicus and the carper sisters- lisa, rachel, and mandi- my neighbors growing up in indiana.
i took a quick trip to a creek where i used to do my homework after highschool. (and smoke cigarettes, of course)
the following are just a few of the pictures i took when my mom and i went to mounds state park.
my mom can hang tough hiking the trails with toddicus!
not an uncommon sight anywhere in indiana.
that night i went to indy to party with good friends. when i went to the bathroom at metro i found this scrawled on the bathroom wall at the club! lol! i took me a minute to pee i was laughing so hard. i'm still not sure of the culprit.
wonderful eddie and april.
eddie's fabulous wife christine who owns brunette salon in indy.
omg! i ran into my first ever roommate outside of a dorm-setting- andy! we shared so many wonderful experiences- like living in a haunted house... and one time having him walk in to my room with bad timing and then a bit later explaining to me that "everybody does it" lol- you know, teenage college stuff like that- too many memories t write here. let's just say that his girlfriend in college is still his best friend... lol!
there... that's more like it!
i got hammered. i had to get a ride home from friends. remember, the bars are open til 3am in indiana.
thank you phoenix for getting the poet home safely! muah!
ok kids- here's the deal- i've not had writers block or anything like that. i've been busier this year than any year of my life. i promise new material is on the way- thanks for all the emails of support.
next week (or later this week depending on my mood) new poetry and the rauccous hallowe'en update.
