i'm home!!!!

i'm finally home from miami and austin with lots of great pictures to share...
but first, please visit half drunk muse which has kindly published one of my favourite poems (you haven't read it yet- and it's one of my favs too) called "a lemming, a poolslide".

so read the new poem then sit back and enjoy these pictures from my trip. a special 'howdy' to my friends on the seychelles islands and keeling islands (glad you're all safe!!!) and to uriya from israel who just finished his service in the army!! xoxoxoxo

ahhh... the beautiful skyline of baton rouge.

bridge over the mississippi river.

heading into the louisiana bayou...

the swamp in wintertime.

crossing the mississippi river (sorry they're out of order here- forgot this one!)

tunnel in mobile, alabama that goes under the ocean.

long ass bridge in mobile.

had a quick "what's up?" to new orleans (again, out of order. new orleans comes before mobile...)

i made it!!!

driving into miami is a real treat... there's a strange sense of an urgency to relax when you arrive. everytime i come here a i can't decide whether or not to go salsa dancing or lay under a palm spitting sunflower seed shells and writing poetry.

everywhere in miami there's cool buildings and architecture.

during the day...

and at night...

an inviting path to the ocean...

blue, blue water.

is anybody home??

everyday, downtown miami, there are turkey buzzards circling the buildings looking for food.
that's because there's so much construction going on there. the whole city is being built again. and there's lots of dead rats!!

turkey buzzards. (or turkey vultures as some call them.)

under construction. and i'm addicted to cranes!! i don't know why,
but i always take pictures of them.

models going up and a building coming down.

this is the versace mansion where gianni versace lived and was murdered on
his front steps. notice the security on bikes awaiting the arrival of a
famous person.

trendy south beach.

all the queen's horses.

walking to the beach and... oh! there's a pair of underwear. usually it's a dog turd
with my luck.

this house made entirely of shells has been for sale for three years.

toddicus before the show.

fish house.

in the elevator...

liquid energy in a cute little cup.

getting ready to go home...

even worked on poetry at the bar.

walking back to my hotel i even saw some spicy flamenco dancing!!!

on the drive home, the hurricane damage was overwhelming. all of the
houses had blue tarps over the roofs and there wasn't a billboard to read for miles.

a very dreamy sky drove me home through alabama.

hello lover.

i love you too.

a forest fire through louisiana...

and a very sleepy toddicus at home, safe in texas.

hope y'all enjoyed your time here. thanks for the kind emails... xoxoxo

hello friends... i have to go to miami, florida for a week. i'll be back sometime next week
and then off to austin, texas for another few days. so i leave you with some random crap
until i return with some great pictures from my trip...

xo

this is a magnesium plant fire in anderson, indiana (my home town)
that happened last week... pretty scary and really close to the house
i grew up in. my mama and stepdad still live there. yikes!

toddicus and kris at james dean's grave eating sushi and drinking beer. (2000)

in the cornfield- everyone should experience this.

toddicus back in 2000 when i got the outline of my tattoo done. (it's all coloured in now).

another self-shot at work.

gettin' ready to tie my shoe two decembers ago.

toddicus messing up a perfectly good family photo.

toddicus and the girls after kim's funeral. (if you look closely, you'll see that
we're forcing smiles.) it was time for drinks, and i don't mean soda.

started to grow a beard once... (bleh!!)

toddicus and the fab drag queen kara dion.

who took this picture and whose hand is that??? strange.

toddicus at stonehenge.

i'm a retard with zits... but i love you all... see you when i'm back from
miami with news and poetry galore... send me emails... i get lonely
on the road.

new year's, NASA, and then some...

hi guys!!! happy new year!!! so... this is 2005. yikes.

i started off by going to another scattered pages show. can't get enough. and the rest is history. enjoy... xo

i started the night off a little out of focus...

morrissey came with me.

kurt (the bass player for the scattered pages) farts and beth reacts. just kidding.

mary's out of focus too...

david under a killer painting.

beth gets silly... but look at the guy behind her popping the zit on his neck as his
girlfriend gets excited.

my snazzy belt buckle.

mary's wallet.

beth grows a mustache.

oooops! somebody (not saying any names!) spilled my wine in my lap!!

morgan gets down to her man's music...

i grew some pretty new hair.

happy new year!!!

so after the show (the following day) i drove down to galveston to spend new year's eve
on the beach with some poetry and champagne... but my weekend happened differently than
i had anitcipated...

i had a night dinner (and two bloody marys and a long island iced tea) at
the ocean grill over the water. brilliant.

the fog was so thick that this is all my camera would take!!!

so i had to settle for watching the ocean and not capturing its brilliance
with my magic box.

and then it was down to the jetty for champagne over the ocean waves for a midnight toast.

pop!

can't wait for some bubbly!

goodbye 2004.

now here's the weird part. i actually ran into someone i hadn't seen in three years and had some drinks in her hotel room- 6 doors down from mine!! i realized that i'd run out of yummy stuff, so i went quickly to the supermarket for one more bottle!!

thank god!!

this is chris who works at the hotel. she invited me up for a few drinks and strangely enough, her friend's sister was sleeping and i recognized her from three years ago!! she woke up and
did some more damage!!

david, an almost-alert stacey, and toddicus. precious angels, no?? rahhrrr!!

view from the hotel in the morning.

now... the next day i was kidnapped (no cell phone!!) and taken away.
and guess where i ended up??

that's right!!! nasa.

it's january 1st. what do the trees look like where you live?
there's nasa in the background.

went right to the nasa tram tour.

empty tram.

full tram.

how long do you think this tram has been in operation? maybe the
brady bunch
came here one time and rode this very tram.

notice the farm right next to the high-tech nasa buildings.

outside of historic mission control... obviously built in the 1960's.

historic mission control. all of the presidents since johnson have been in this room.
this is the very room that they controlled the apollo missions and talked to our astronauts
walking on the surface of the moon.

smoking was very legal in here at the time...

...as well as inside the control room. (notice the big ol' ashtray.)

they took us to hangar x. (insert sci-fi music here.)

this is the x-38 craft they're building so that astronauts can fly from the space station to home, get some clean underwear and a sandwich, and get back to work without having to do all of that shuttle nonsense.

this is another experimental aircraft. but wait!!! look at those two yawning, bored
kids in front of the ship as well as the sleepy dad with the little girl passing out on
his back.

these are space station parts where the astronauts practice manuevering.

so after the tram tour it's time for a quick smoke break...

this is an astronauts hardsuit in case they go walking around someplace like titan or io.

they'll let just about anyone into space, won't they?

this is toddicus sleeping in zero gravity.

michael jackson never did this.

the actual moonbuggy is still on the moon. this is the one the boys practiced with before heading into space.

one of the actual capsules those brave-ass boys came back to earth in.

another capsule... not much room to pick your nose in, huh??

wax space station guy.

this is how much i'd weigh on jupiter. 346 lbs!!!

actual moon rocks. (i got all kinds of excited to see these!!)

lego astronaut on a tropical planet.

i'm a winner!!!

how far to la-la land?

and that was that. the end. off to home for a cook-out with friends...

and i leave you with the language of galveston island...

did i read that correctly?

and i leave you with camera fireworks for a happy 2005.

i wish you all the best... much love... hope to receive some nice emails and new poetry from y'all. don't forget to take food to a homeless person this year. it's important.
and try adopting a pet or two as well.

xoxoxo

Past adventures of Toddicus:
