palm springs california and beyond...

hi y'all. here's part three of the palm springs trip. let's get started.

palm springs is a gorgeous desert town. it's down in the valley and surrounded by
fantastic mountains.

they're a lot taller than they look.

palm trees everywhere... thus the name.

time to head out and see my friends in from los angeles... i look drunk already.

ahhh... back together again a year later...

toddicus and dana

toddicus and gilbert (and siouxsie and the missing persons)

sioux kerns gets fed.

and... the party gets started.

we decided not to bleed.

the view from my hotel room.

no one in palm springs had seen the mountains this green in years. the heavy
southern california rainstorms really did a number.

and the clouds roll in...

downtown palm springs

and now it's time to go home.

the rain was so heavy that it created streams across the roads... see in the rearview?

the desert came alive.

don't forget to stop at the exciting general patton museum...

thrills and excitement!!

hello phoenix...

phoenix I-10 tunnel

and just outside of phoenix on I-10, it happened.
the accident.

i'm barrelling down the highway at a good 90 mph when all of a sudden this white suv crosses the median and clips the trailer of a tour bus and is rolling like a juggernaut towards me at an incredible speed. it must have flipped 30 times.

this is when i came to a stop. i noticed an excessive amount of debris scattered on the road...

i jumped out of the van to see if i could help but it seemed the guy wasn't wearing a seat belt.
there were three other guys there trying to help so i stayed back- as my mom says, "too many hands in the kitchen." he was already gone.

the guy driving was carrying blood and urine samples and they spilled all over the highway.

a man running to help.

notice the biohazard bags all over. up the road a bit when i went to see if the people in the bus were ok (it was some rock band from california) i saw tiny viles of blood and urine all over the road (not to mention other questionable bodily fluids). so i got away from all of the human products as fast as possible.

driving away.

there are other hazards to driving in the desert as well.

and then there's me. i can be hazardous at times as well.

alright, if you say so.

and the next day in el paso i bought the new tori amos album, the beekeeper, which i think is her best work to date. must have listened to it nine times in a row until i switched to npr radio.

well, i hope you enjoyed the update. another is coming soon. if you missed the first two installments of the palm springs update, just keep scrolling down and hit "news archives" at the bottom and have a good search.

xoxo
