a quick miami trip...

hi everyone! firstly, i want to thank everyone who voted for me for best live entertainer in houston... i got runner up... which ain't bad in a city of 7 million. and also houston modern luxury had this to say about my show...

"...wednesday's [and sunday's] are karaoke night hosted by the charismatic toddicus, whose oh-no-he-didn't commentary about the love lives of his friends in the crowd- or whatever else rolls off his pierced tongue- will either have you rolling on the floor or rolling your eyes...."

and there's more but that's the part i like the best.

so, with all of this celebratory sounding news, let's go to a completely uneducational update of me partying like a good poet should in south beach, miami.

you can see the famous delano hotel and the national behind me.

that's my girl maria at the pool at the delano hotel.

yep. it's always time to party in miami.

met up with mr. and mrs. trouble (newly wed in miami, but from houston!).

drinking started early for me.

and then the group kissing. lol!!

dear god please help me. (thanks morrissey)

in the convertable going to the next club... mrs. trouble is wiiiilllld!!!

in the back of the car...

me, nato, and maria...

we saw santa claus on vacation, cracked out and trying to get into the car!!

toddicus and the devilish nato!!

it's amazing what about two gallons of gin & tonic will do for ya!

it was only a couple of seconds! promise!

devilish devilish devilish

it's obviously close to the end of the night!

this girl is full.

maria's husband is thankful that she's home in one piece...

aaawwww!!!!!!!!!!!

...and so are the kids!!

a beautiful and sober morning by the sea...

some of nato's killer tattoos.

and like a whirlwind... i'm back in houston with no shaving for two days.

i'm off to austin, texas for the rest of the week and weekend... see y'all for halloween!!!

be good... listen to kate bush and siouxsie sioux.

oh jesus (hey-soos) i love mexico!!

hola muchachos y muchachas! as y'all know, i looove mexico. always have, always will.
interestingly enough, i've never been to cozumel. so please enjoy the pictures of my first trip to the island of cozumel and explore the pyramids and beaches... xoxoxo

tinus and me on the boat to cozumel...

here's the scene as we boat onto the dock on cozumel island, mexico.

first thing's first! jason, t, and i rented a jeep and headed to the non-touristy parts of the island. i really wanted to see the pyramids.

the pyramids were beautiful. you could see the devastation in the forest from the hurricane. there were no tall trees left on the island. it was like the whole island got a hair cut at ten feet. that was a bit depressing.

this should give you the history of the pyramids on this island so that i don't have to type it all for you.

you can see here where they were trying to save some of the trees that were knocked over but still had connected roots.

one of the main roads throughout the "city".

dios mio they were short!

reptiles everywhere!

i think being on a boat this long makes everyone particularly randy on shore.

the itzaes never walked around like this.

this was the throne room.

back to the jeep... time for beer!

stopped along the way to buy some bracelets and such...

socorro!!!!!!

i found a little spot by the sea on the east side of the island with corona and freshly-made habanero pico! estoy en cielo!

garlic wards off evil spirits, like the cucuy or the chupacabra!

little monster at the cantina...

finally! the beach! don't i look pissed off?? maybe it's because i was in my underwear.

the waves were strong!

"come join us!"

well, i didn't have a swim trunks with me...

i think some seaweed washed up my butt!!

the waves were beating the crap out of me... there was only so much i could take!

thanks for the photos guapos!

there was construction everywhere. the hurricane beat the pulp out of this little island.

i love you mexico!!!!

all of these hotels were hollowed out from the hurricane.

there's the front of the boat where i spend half of my time...

off into the sunset!!!!!!!!!

thanks for visiting y'all... next week- cruisin' the ocean and back to miami for a debaucherous little time...

i'm off to dallas for a week- see y'all when i return.

i went to hell and came back.

hi kids- whew!!!!! what a long couple of weeks! for my dearest kelly in san francisco... a new poem in poem of the week... i know it's been forever, but i'm just so excited about my next book (due out early 2007) that i've neglected to do much writing or even going over old poems.

my pal eric himan has just released his new cd... go to his site and check out his tour dates... he's playing here in houston at the same club i do my show, guava lamp, on october 17th. kick ass!!

i did however, go to hell. hell, grand cayman island to be exact. take a look.

the arrival to grand cayman island... grand cayman was hit hard by a hurricane a year before. they were still doing a lot of work around the island.

everybody loves big black dick.

this is the main street from the port that goes to all of the tourist destinations... but you know me... i had something different in mind...

i asked the bus driver, "are you going to hell?" and he said, "we're all going to hell." so i got on.

the first sign that you're in hell.

welcome to hell.

on the north side of the island there are verey strange rock formations that look like, well, hell.

toddicus in hell. (i wore an appropriate color, wouldn't you say?)

hell rocks!

hell is cool.

devil...?

...or angel?

being british and all, we still drive on the opposite side of the road here.

we have a daily grind coffee house in houston. they're not connected, but it made me think of home.

tropical storm clark started fucking up the weather...

here comes clark's fingers!! i had to have one more gin & tonic before i got on the boat.

up to the front of the boat for the take-off!

goodbye grand cayman.

we cruised past the largest cruise ship in the world.

i put on a tie for dinner. i knew you wouldn't believe it unless i took a picture.

alright ladies and gentlemen and others... next week... mexico and my butt.

mmm-hmmm. my butt.

take care y'all

Past adventures of Toddicus:
