y'all know i hate winter and i loathe snow. well, it f*!#ing snowed. yes, here in houston.

i moved here to stay warm.

anyway... this wednesday december 29th at helios, i'm hosting poetry from 8:00pm till aprx 11:00pm. So please join.

here's proof that it snowed. and screw you if you think it's funny. it's not.

xo

the first flakes on my sweater. sweater!!?? why am i wearing a freakin' sweater!
it's supposed to be warm right now!! GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

palm trees and snow do not go together.

gross.

sick.

my car is pissed.

um... yuck!! look at my poor plants. look at the hibiscus that started to bloom.

can't even sit down.

took a picture of myself to prove that i was in snow for the first time in 6 years.
(ignore the hair. i took my beanie off.)

...but it does make good for fashionable winter outfits.

until next time... stay warm (it was in the 60s today... thank god)
and i'd love to hear how you are... xoxo

friends, family, and art in december.

most of you know my bah-humbugness around the holidays... hey, it makes for great poetry. there's a christmas poem up in the poem of the week. enjoy. xo

and for now... around town...

went to go see the scattered pages play (still the best band around) at
brasil. this was my change for a few glasses of wine. it always sucks
breaking those big bills.

and here's the boys... "it's been rainin' virginia woolf..."

i was certainly enjoying myself... but check out baranna in the
background to the left- it looks like she just received terrible news
and is bawling her head off...

but not so!!!! she was in a very laughable mood! xoxo

mary reads an aubrey beardsley book (dirty pics!) and dee dee
checks on my camera-ness.

baranna's adorable daughter taj (in yellow) with a friend enjoy
the band... (OMG BRANDON IS SOOOOO HOT!!!)

somebody put some bailey's in this hottie's drink.

and the band plays on... "you were born in the rain and mud, rain and mud"

...and the girls get wild.

and wilder...

beth gets sassy- and what about those knees!!?? lights! camera!! action!!!
(there are some wonderful pictures following this one... but i'll keep those
to myself.)

brandon takes a break.

i got bored during the break and ran out of wine.

brandon goofs off...

i get silly...

mary gets fab...

i start posing...

and that's when it's time to go...

so...

we head to the poison girl for a nightcap.

i enjoy a gin & tonic and michelle enjoys a vodka press.

kenny, the manager of union, shows up with bartenders marvin and sara.

michelle shares a hug with beth... but our darling beth can't control
her animal instincts...

michelle... "i am not a lesbian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

and we left just after. enough said.

and so two days later we went to kara duval and frank rose's art opening...

a nice, crisp december evening... and fantastic art and food to come...

some of the post-its from the brilliant photography... and kara, the artist, in the background.

enjoying some merlot...

andy, toddicus, and brandon being hip.

they had a nice fire outside to keep us warm... as well as a big-screen fire to boot!

and sunday morning it was time for coffee and odwalla. please forgive the starbuck's
umbrella in the background. it was the only coffee shop in midtown.

and that's my old living space in the background!!

look at that blue sky... december 19th folks, don't forget!!

beautiful live oaks twist and stretch downtown houston.

killer sycamore tree...

downtown houston (in a secret spot) there's a building that has roosters and chickens.
they wouldn't come close today. i tried to draw them out of the bushes.

can you see the rooster?? he was being very protective of the girlfriend today.

the girlfriend.

balloons downtown.

there's soooo many of them!!

some people are tattooed like this.

went to katz's to have some din with my nephew ian and sister-in-law jen.

i wish toddicus.com never ended.

i'm so cute... you'd better come back and visit soooon!!! (insert baby giggles here).

goodbye my friends... happy holidays to all of you.

houston kicks ass.

well kids, i've been in this city for six years now... can you believe it? can i?
anyway, there's sooo much to do here- plus, it's still gorgeous outside and no snow.

firstly, it was time to cut my hair off. it had to go. i was sooo sick of it.

it looks a little like london minus those palm trees in the background.

off to salon vendome to shave the ol' head.

that's my stylist dennis ivey. there goes my hair.

go dennis! keep shavin'! (the link is gross, sorry!! hee hee hee)

um, what 80's band am i in?

all mine.

ah... i can breathe again. no more hassle in the morning anymore!

later, david and i went to baba yega's for an afternoon lunch.

the fantastic baba yega.

when i sat down i was a bit chilly... they turned on a little space heater for me.

players.

this is the fantastic garden at baba yega's... remember, this was december 1st kids.
we've just barely started fall. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

david had a turkey (i think, i'm vegetarian, so i don't know these things)
muffeletta and i had (the far plate) a veggie ruben with pressed wheat (tastes
like roast beef... so weird).

please...

so after lunch david and i decided to run around the cemetery on washington
street and take lots and lots of pictures. here's some- i hope you like them.
david takes amazing photographs.

toddicus to the northwest of downtown houston.

the building directly above my head has a mayan pyramid on top
to signify the union between houston and mexico.

st. francis. he was the first animal rights activist. kinda.

found this guy dangling from a tree... an opossum?

david chills with a melancholy angel.

i thought maybe that angel was trying to get a booger off her finger or
pass a joint to the big man upstairs. but i bet god doesn't smoke pot.
probably a booger. there's an angel picking her nose on my website
back in the july archives i think...

david found a cd down by the muddy creek.

that's all for now... don't be so voyeuristic!! send me an email.

xoxo
